Mark Your Calenders!
Attending the Sewing Together party, you will be given a goody bag full of delightful gifts. We will also be having a silent auction with many bestselling books, all signed by the authors. There will be yarn, and T-shirts and handknits sweaters as door prizes. Money raised from the auction will go towards the shipping costs to mail all the blankets to the families. Here are some of the auction items...

All of these books have been signed by the authors and some are not available to the general public till October! You'll be the envy of all your friends!!!!
The Inn @ Va Tech is the location of our Sewing Together Party...call 540-961-4462 for details and to RSVP. Come for as long or as little as you like! Food and drinks provided. Bring your own DARNING NEEDLE and a sense of humor! We need you there!

As soon as I get my call schedule for next month I'll let you know. I am on call I'll be there in spirit... but we might have an emergency c-section or something like that and you know I'd never miss anything that exciting.

DAMN!!! I'm scheduled to work the entire weekend! (Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun.) If I can make switches, I'll be there!!!! Switching OFF of weekends is tough, but I'll give it my best shot.
Hey-- I wanna know more about the foot fetishes....
Sure wish I could be a part of that! Thanks for keeping us all updated on the progress, and you guys did a great job in the interviews!!
Sharly
Wish I could be there. If I can work out a road trip with my little ones I will. I love that the video clip ends with "foot fetishes". What? LMBO
(I forgot to send this with the squares.)
Dear Mosaic Yarn Shop folks,
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in warming the bodies (and, it is to be hoped, the hearts) of people who have lost loved ones in the Virginia Tech shootings and those who suffered severe injuries of the body and psyche in the attack.
The squares I sent the other day were made by four of us who work in the same high school: an English teacher, an assistant principal, and two Spanish teachers. We don’t get to see each other much, but this project helped us work together, even at a distance---across one school, across the country, around the world.
I get really rattled by stories of school shootings (I mean, they’re all my kids in a way), and this helps me believe that we all can make a positive difference. The relief we offer here is a very concrete thing for me; when I get overtaken by my PTSD, I shiver and feel as though I am freezing, even if it is 95ْ F where I am.
Thank you again. May you be comforted even as you help to comfort others.
Sincerely,
A fan from a state away
P.S. If you should end up with many extra blankets, counselors at Virginia Tech and local schools may be interested in keeping a few around to comfort their clients.
I'll be on my way to the beach to visit my parents for Father's Day/my dad's birthday. I'd love to drop some cupcakes by on Thurday or Friday to help feed the troops. Will the Inn let you bring outside food in? Drop me an email and let me know.
BTW, Is it too late to get my squares in?
4512 squares? sweet aunt jemima!
Gina, my sister (Lynchburg) & I (Richmond) are thinking of coming to help sew -- is that okay, or do you have too many volunteers already? (My sis is the one donating the books to go with each blanket).
The more the merrier for the sewing! The more people show up, the less work for everyone else! Mobilize the troops! No, to the cupcakes at the INN but Yes, to cupcakes at the shop!
Dear Gina,
I doubt you would remember me but I spoke with you on the phone about coming to a sew along when you got the squares-I will be driving from North Carolina on Sat. morning-couldn't get off work on Friday anyways is it ok to just come for part of the time? My 16 year old daughter will be coming wtih me and I may not be able to get there as early as 10 am!!
Thanks-Tayloe
Come one! Come All! We'll be sewing our little hearts out! if you're late? So what! The fact that you came at all is whats important.
Hi Gina,
Just wanted to let you know that I filled out the sponsorship form on the DHL website, to request that they help you guys out with the shipping costs for the blankets. No guarantees, but worth a shot. I've put down your shop's info for the contact information, so you'll get the call or email if/when a decision is made. (You may even have an initial confirmation email already in your Inbox, acknowledging receipt of the completed form.) Their website says they will make a decision within 30 days.
And why DHL? Well, their colors are (almost) Hokie colors! :-)
Here's another donated-shipping option:
Send a fax to: (276)623-5440, or email: baumgardnert@foodcity.com, or send in writing to:
Tammy Baumgardner,
P.O. Box 1158,
Abingdon, VA 24212
a request to the corporate office of FOOD CITY describing the
project and expected cost for shipping. She recommends you
request the highest estimate and they can work from there.
You know it would be my luck that the one weekend I am on-call is the 16th... boo.
I'll try to come in and sew a few ends in this weekend.
