Thanks to my stupid car, I didn't get back to Blacksburg in time to see the blankets. Very sad :(

After knitting a double-knit square for the Hokie blanket project on a car ride to Virginia, I wondered if I would ever see how it fit into the final group of blankets. I looked through the photos quickly last summer, but didn't notice my square.

What a surprise it was today, nearly a year later, when I opened the 9th picture down in this group of photos and discovered my knitted square!!! Just seeing it brought tears to my eyes-- one of my dad's best friends is a professor at VT, but luckily was not on campus at the time of the shooting last year.

In the photo with the large maroon and white center square, the square I knit is the one next to the the photo of a woman's gold shoe--one made up of concentric squares with a heart in the middle. From what I was told, it was the only double-knit square that they had received at the time I dropped it off to the store.

I'm glad it made it into the quilts in time to be displayed and I hope it has provided warmth and comfort over this past winter. It meant a lot to be able to reach out to someone to give them comfort in their time of need.

Thanks for allowing me (and many others) to be involved with such a caring project!!! Time will hopefully help to heal the wounds. These blankets will certainly spread their warmth and love.
